Warner Bros. has bought into the rights to the World of Warcraft franchise. WoW indeed. It is the kind of movie that needs a huge budget to be good. It also needs to be aimed for a more adult audience...think Lord of the Rings and not Harry Potter/Narnia/Twilight.
The signing of Sam Ramni helps. Check out the story here.
I have had two stints of playing the game. I got a character to level 50 the first time and 45 the second time. (Last I checked it went to 80) It is very addictive but not that much fun if that makes any sense. The graphics are only OK. It is very numbers oriented ala Dungeons and Dragons with Hit Points and Mana. Worst of all, I never got the sense that can be good or bad at the game. It seemed to be nothing more than a function of how long you were willing to play.
But, that being said, the environment is huge and interesting enough. The community atmosphere and marketplace is really very cool. And, it took a genre, MMORPG games, from a complete niche to mainstream banaza.
