I am exhausted after long day. We closed on our first house and began the grueling process of cleaning the new house and, of course, moving.
I did manage to sneak in the two Top Chefs and a Seinfeld. Bayless was a deserving champ on TC Masters and I really liked the premiere of Vegas. Wolfgang Puck was the guest judge and he was classic. At one point he chucked a doughnut across the room.
Back to work tomorrow. It is going to be a long next couple of weeks.

Hey Matt -
ReplyDeleteI had to comment on your Top Chef obsession. I love this show... and Rick Bayless is awesome. So many chefs are cocky, where he comes off as humble - such a desirable trait of a good chef. We had a chance to go to Topolobampo this summer and it was by far the best meal I have ever had. I even left with an autographed menu... a way to increase the tip for our ever-smart waiter!
Happy New House!
Danelle
I am so jealous. Bayless seemed like such a nice guy too. I really do love cooking and I think of those chefs as A-list celebrities. Especially Alton Brown.
ReplyDeleteIt might be worth a trip to Chicago. Some of his flavors at times might have been too mature for my palette (this chocolate dessert with strong olives for one), but the creativity of Bayless is only to be admired.
ReplyDeleteAlton Brown went to New England Culinary Institute (NECI) outside of Burlington. That's where Matt went too. Matt was a dishwasher in high school when Alton was there... and as he and others remember, he was quite the arrogant dick. The cafeteria at my company is run by this same culinary institite - and Alton's face is on every napkin dispenser. Don't get me wrong, I like his show though!
He is a know-it-all for sure. Who else do you guys like? I really like Jamie Oliver, especially the At Home show. He cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Jamie Oliver too much. We are DDD fans... and I also like "The Best Food I Ever Ate". I take mental notes on cities so I know where to go if I ever cruise through.
ReplyDeleteOne thing we want to do is take a x-country food tour one day. We may have to start out small and do it regionally as time-off is not on my side these days.
Did I ever tell you what I hope to do one day? Have my own goats (2 max) so I can make my own goat cheese for personal consumption. It's ok to laugh out loud..most people do. Very excited for my goats one day! First I need a house, land, etc... I will probably have to hold off until we buy our bed and breakfast....
Hillary has always wanted goats, too. I am not a fan of wild animals. A dog is all I can handle.
ReplyDeleteA girl after my own heart. Tell Hillary I said hello.
ReplyDeleteHope that we can all catch up soon!
